A license is required to operate a family foster home for children. In order to obtain a license, an individual or couple must submit an application and a home study will be completed. All adults living in the home must also successfully complete a fingerprint-based criminal background check.

Contact the ND Recruitment & Retention Specialist at 1-833-FST-HOME to learn more or request an application.  You may also visit with a Licensing Coordinator from CFS Licensing Unit at cfslicensing@nd.gov or a local Human Service Zone case worker or supervisor about the area need and licensing process.
