ND Medicaid’s Quality Strategy supports the North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) goal of making the state the healthiest in the nation.

The state’s mission is to:

Support positive outcomes for people by improving economic, mental, and physical health. This means taking care of the whole person and helping communities stay healthy.

ND Medicaid Core Set Reporting

On August 31, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released a final rule about reporting quality measures for Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP).

Click here to learn more about the final rule.

Section 50102(b) of the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 requires states to report Child Core Set measures starting in federal fiscal year (FFY) 2024. Section 5001 of the SUPPORT Act requires states to report behavioral health measures from the Adult Core Set starting in FFY 2024.

The rest of the Adult Core Set measures are still optional for states to report.

The Child and Adult Core Sets help CMS and states understand the quality of care in Medicaid and CHIP. They also help track access to care and identify health differences among patients.

North Dakota Medicaid shares its quality performance results based on the latest CMS Child and Adult Core Sets as part of its commitment to being open and transparent.
