An emergency - whether natural or manmade - can strike quickly and without warning. Although first responders and relief workers will be on the scene as soon as possible, they may not reach everyone right away. That's why it's important to become informed and educated and to prepare for a disaster before it strikes.

The following guidelines can help you prepare for a possible emergency, including a terrorist event.

What to Do in Case of Emergency or Biological or Chemical Attack

The Department Operations Center (DOC) is the physical location where the Department of Health comes together during an emergency to coordinate response and recovery actions and resources. The DOC is not an incident command post; rather, it is the operations center where coordination and management decisions are facilitated.

Emergency preparedness is crucial for children as it equips them with the knowledge and skills to stay safe during unexpected events such as natural disasters and health incidents. Teaching children about preparedness instills a sense of responsibility, confidence, and empowerment, enabling them to react calmly and effectively in emergencies. It also fosters resilience, helping them cope with stress and uncertainty, while ensuring their well-being and that of those around them.
