Will I receive a step-by-step program if I receive the Prevention and Early Intervention Pilot Grant?

The Prevention and Early Intervention Pilot Grant is not a program, but rather a system-level implementation approach. The goal of the project (as identified in the Grant Application Guidance) is to “demonstrate improvement to children’s behavioral health in a school setting and identify how a fully integrated continuum of support could look in various schools throughout North Dakota.”

Can the money from the Prevention and Early Intervention Pilot Grant be used to implement programs that our team sees fit?

Through the implementation of this system-level project, there may be programs identified within that system that will address needs/gaps that assist implementation. Technical assistance will be provided to guide the system assessment and implementation (which may include implementation of new programs or coordination with existing programs) to improve behavioral health of all children in the school setting.

Can a special education unit, consortium, or school district apply for the Prevention and Early Intervention Pilot Grant?

How do I know if my school considered ‘rural’ when applying to the Early Intervention and Prevention Pilot Grant?

Eligible applicants are described in the Grant Applications as “public or private elementary or secondary schools which are able to demonstrate the following criteria”, including “serves a majority tribal and/or rural population”. The applicant can describe how they serve a majority tribal and/or rural population in in the application.

• Implementation of this effort requires buy-in from school administration.
• Because of the time required to fully implement the project, implementation in one school is recommended.
• Once this project is implemented in one school, it can be expanded to other schools in the area.
• During the one-year implementation, professional development resources and other tools can be shared with other district schools.
• The feasibility of full pilot project implementation within the one-year period will be evaluated upon proposal submission.
• Is the population being served considered an eligible applicant in accordance with, “public or private elementary or secondary schools which … serves a majority tribal and/or rural population”
