Public comment sought on renewal to the Medicaid Autism Spectrum Disorder Waiver
North Dakota's 1915(c) Medicaid Waiver, Autism Spectrum Disorder Birth through Fifteen Years is being renewed for an additional five years. The Autism Spectrum Disorder waiver provides services to children who have an autism spectrum disorder diagnosis and currently are between the ages of birth through age 15. The goal of this waiver is to assist families in keeping their child home instead of placing them within a facility to receive needed services.
Proposed changes to this waiver:
- Extend the waiver another five years.
- Increase the age of qualifying children from through the age of 15 to through the age of 17.
- Providers rate increases. Providers were granted a 3% increase in 2023 and a 3% increase in 2024.
- Increase waiver slots from 150 to 345.
- Adding tutoring services, AngelSense tracking services to support safety and an enhanced reimbursement rate to provide case management in rural areas.
- Changes to background check process.
Comments and public input on these proposed waiver amendments will be accepted from July 1, 2023, and ending at 5 p.m. Central Time on July 30, 2023.
