Direct Services - Department Behavioral Health Services
The department provides behavioral health services (mental health and substance abuse services) through:
- Eight Regional Human Service Centers,
- The North Dakota State Hospital in Jamestown,
- and through contracts.
- Note: Preference in admission to all regional human service centers is given to pregnant substance abusers and others who often cannot access help elsewhere.

Behavioral Health Division
Provides leadership for the planning, development, and oversight of a system of care for children, adults, and families with severe emotional disorders, mental illness, and/or substance abuse issues.
