SPECIAL MEETING
Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee
In-person and virtual listening session
Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2023
BACKGROUND
- The State of North Dakota, through its Attorney General, has reached court-approved settlement with opioid manufacturers and distributors. A requirement to receiving and spending settlement funds is the creation of an advisory committee. The Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee has been established through an executive order issued by Gov. Doug Burgum and codified in North Dakota Century Code 50-36-06.
- The Opioid Settlement Advisory Committee will provide input and recommendations to the North Dakota Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Division regarding the spending of funds received by the settlement. The usage of settlement funds must be used for opioid remediation and abatement and align with approved usages as identified in the settlement document Exhibit E.
- Public feedback will be used to guide the committee’s decision making on strategies to combat opioid misuse.
