Background:
The Developmental Disabilities (DD) Section of North Dakota Health and Human Services is participating in the National Core Indicators-Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (NCI-IDD) Survey.
The DD Section will be implementing the NCI’s in-person survey to collect information and assess the outcomes of services provided to individuals. Indicators address key areas including service planning, rights, choices, decision making, health, welfare, safety, services coordination, relationships, community inclusion, employment, and goals.
Several ND advocacy organizations advocated for the implementation of NCI and the North Dakota State Council on Developmental Disabilities (NDSCDD) granted funding for the first two years of NCI survey cycles.
NCI is a collaborative effort and is used by states to assess the quality and outcomes of services. NCI offers valid, reliable, person-centered measures that states may use the data to assess individual satisfaction, guide decisions, track performance over time, compare results across states, and improve the quality of services.
