Virtual Training Overview:
This 90-minute learning opportunity is designed to provide professional development and skills improvement as a component of a continuous process of practice transformation, with the goal of positively impacting the effective engagement with diverse racial, and ethnic minority groups as well as those of lower socioeconomic status. This training is targeted at public health and social service providers.
The goal of this recorded training is to make clear that cultural competence and humility require active development and is an ongoing process that one attempts to aspire to rather than achieve. Participants will gain skills and techniques in the following:
- To be active in the process of becoming aware of personnel assumptions about human behavior, values, biases, and preconceived notions.
As professionals, we must shift from being culturally unaware to being culturally aware to create a more culturally inclusive clinic environment for patients. Additionally, for public health and social service providers, it is important to understand the values and cultures of the diverse populations you serve.
