North Dakota Health and Human Services (HHS) is hosting virtual 30-minute lunch and learn programs over the noon hour to inform individuals about services that support the health and well-being of North Dakotans as they age.
On June 22, North Dakotans can learn about an online resource for in-home support service providers called the Qualified Service Provider (QSP) Hub, and on June 29, they can learn about Social Security online services.
The North Dakota QSP Hub is an online resource funded by HHS through the Center for Rural Health at the University of North Dakota that can assist agency and individual service providers throughout the state. It offers educational tools, training and can answer questions and assist people in becoming a QSP in-home and community-based services provider to help people with physical disabilities live at home in the community. The presenter will share updates on projects as well as upcoming learning opportunities.
The Social Security Administration presentation will discuss how to set up an account, get an estimate of retirement benefits, apply online for retirement and disability benefits through SSA and report wages online if a person is receiving Supplemental Security Income.
People can participate in the lunch and learn programs online or by telephone. Details on joining these and other upcoming lunch and learn sessions can be found at hhs.nd.gov/adults-and-aging/multigenerational-plan-aging.
Individuals with disabilities who need accommodations to participate can contact Michele Curtis at 701-328-8679, 711 (TTY) or mimcurtis@nd.gov.
Programming is being offered together with partner agencies as part of North Dakota’s Multigenerational Plan on Aging. Led by HHS Adult and Aging Services and involving partners, this initiative aims to raise awareness of services supporting quality of life and independent living so North Dakotans can plan for how they want their needs met as they age. It also encourages partner agencies who serve older adults to learn more about other service providers, so they can collaborate and connect people to desired services and resources.
A summary of all upcoming lunch and learn programs can be found at hhs.nd.gov/adults-and-aging/multigenerational-plan-aging.
