Virtual Supports in the Traditional IID/DD HCBS 1915(c) Waiver
The Traditional IID/DD Home and Community Based (HCBS) I915(c) waiver serves people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and includes an array of home and community-based services in the least restrictive environment. A new waiver amendment was recently approved by Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that will allow virtual supports in some services, effective Nov. 1, 2023.
Virtual supports are not a sperate service in the traditional IID/DD waiver but a method by which certain services may be delivered to an individual. The virtual supports option will be available in behavior consultation, independent habilitation, individual employment services, parenting supports, and infant development. Join the North Dakota Health and Human Services Developmental Disabilities (DD) Section for a training on policy and procedures for virtual supports.
