Career Description
The North Dakota Securities Department is seeking an Investor Education and Outreach Communications Specialist to join our team. This position is responsible for the development and delivery of all investor education content and programming and other outreach communications made by the Department.The Securities Department carries out the important mission of protecting investors and supporting legitimate capital formation. The Department is a regulatory agency responsible for the administration of the North Dakota Securities Act, the North Dakota Commodities Act, the Franchise Investment Law, and Pre-Need Funeral Services Law. The Department regulates investment industry firms and professionals, and also regulates capital formation involving the offer and sale of securities.We strive to adequately balance the support of efficient, legitimate capital formation with appropriate protections for investors who commit capital to businesses. The investigation of investment fraud and other securities law violations is also our responsibility, and we may take enforcement actions that result in disciplinary remedies and act as a deterrent for further violations.Through our investor education programs and resources, which this position is responsible for managing, we strive to help North Dakotans make informed investment decisions, avoid fraud, and build financial security.Hiring Range: $5,500 - $6,500/month commensurate with experience. Location: This position is located onsite at our office location in Bismarck, ND. The successful candidate must be willing and able to travel throughout North Dakota as needed. As Investor Education and Outreach Communications Specialist, you will:Partner with the Examinations and Investigations team with communications related to investment industry regulation.Manage the Department's support of the Stock Market Game program for participating North Dakota teachers and their students.Manage the partnership with the National Theatre for Children and programming delivery into North Dakota schools.Manage the Department's website content and other communication platforms.Produce Investor Advisories related to investment concepts and fraud warnings for delivery to the public through press releases, website publication, and social media.Participate in events and partnerships designed to educate seniors on investment fraud related topics.Draft and publish press releases related to enforcement actions by the Commissioner.To succeed in this position:You will be self-motivated and creative, with strong interpersonal skills, and a curiosity to learn new approaches to communicating and delivering on our investor protection mission. To be considered for this position: Bachelor's degree in a communications-related field and 3 years of work experience in communications relevant to the responsibilities of the position.Working knowledge of various social media platforms, Microsoft 365 suite and Adobe Premier, large-scale email contact management software and presentation software.Willing and able to travel throughout North Dakota as necessary.Preferred Qualifications:Experience with photograph and video development and editing.
