Career Description
Administer the acquisition of maintenance equipmentPlan and coordinate equipment proposals, requisitions, and purchases.Develop specifications, ensure specification compliance, analyze bids, and make award recommendations for equipment purchases.Provide cost estimates to offices, divisions, and districts for budgeting.Work with offices, divisions, and districts to establish and maintain equipment budgets, biennial equipment lists, and equipment replacement plans.Lead Department's Transportation Technician Training AcademyServe as main point of contact for all academy planning, training, and activities, lead development of training topics, and prepare activity and information packets.Coordinate with training facility to schedule training event dates, sites, classrooms, lodging, and meals.Identify training instructors, students, and equipment by coordinating with divisions and districts.Maintain equipment management systemsMaintain and manage equipment management systems, develop and maintain standards for the systems, and coordinate procedures, enhancements, and updates of the systems. Coordinate equipment management system activities with districts and divisions and ensure data is kept current.Analyze equipment data, identify high cost equipment, prepare reports for office, districts, and divisions, and make recommendations for action.Provide technical assistance, prepare special reports, and perform studiesResearch, analyze, and prepare special research reports.Research and make recommendations on equipment used in new maintenance or construction techniques.Make observations and offer recommendations to change operations based on equipment needs.Miscellaneous DutiesRepresent department in interaction with other agencies and organizations.Plan, develop, and implement special assignments.Assist in scheduling equipment and support in emergency events and serve as ICS Logistics Section Chief for DOT emergency response operations.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree, andFour years of work experience leading to a level of knowledge, skill, and ability necessary to work independently in interacting with others, problem-solving, decision-making, developing and implementing policies, and meeting established goals through planning, organizing, and controlling work activities. Four years of progressively responsible work experience may substitute for two years of the education requirement. Requires a class D drivers license to travel to public meetings and project locations.Employment of the selected candidate will be contingent on satisfactorily completing the interview process and a verifiable record of satisfactory performance in previous employment.
