Create change to make it possible for people with developmental disabilities to live the lives they want with the support they need. Join the State Council on Developmental Disabilities (SCDD) as a Public Policy Advisor.In this newly created position, you will join a small staff, a 23-member council and other partners committed to improving policies, programs, and practices that impact the lives of North Dakotans with developmental disabilities. In this role, you will monitor state and federal legislative activity, inform stakeholders of emerging issues and formulate responses in a timely fashion. Furthermore, you will advocate for lasting improvements in policies, practices, services, programs, laws, and regulations that affect children and young adults with developmental disabilities and their families. Plus, you will represent the SCDD on committees, coalitions and commissions to further the Council's mission and impact. To be successful in this position, you are committed to creating a world where all people are given the opportunity to be contributing, successful members of their community. You are a skilled advocate for people with developmental disabilities. And you have mastered translating legal concepts into the everyday reality. To be considered for this position, you MUST have the following experience and skills:Following legislative activity, hearings and policy briefsWriting summaries of emerging issues, legislative activities and decisionsCrafting responses for Public Comment Periods Individuals with personal or lived experience are encouraged to apply. Location: This position may work from home anywhere within in North Dakota. Ideally, the person hired will be based in the vicinity of Bismarck making access to legislative activity at the Capital easier.About State Council on Developmental Disabilities: The North Dakota State Council on Developmental Disabilities is a dynamic, statewide public policy and advocacy organization, is hiring a Director of Inclusion Initiatives. The Director will join a small staff and work with a 23-member council and other partners to help advance the organization's mission and improve policies, programs, and practices that impact the lives of North Dakotans with developmental disabilities across the lifespan.
