Career Description
Help make a difference by assisting approved refugee youth resettled in North Dakota as URM Independent Living Foster Care Case Manager III - (Human Services V) and join the Agassiz Valley Human Service Zone team. The URM Program is a specialty team to support the healthy transition of minor refugee youth from their home country to the United States. As a URM Case Manager, you will be part of a specialty team that provides case management services centering around safety and wellbeing by offering independent living services. You will be responsible for independent living case management services to help URM youth prepare for independence and self-sufficiency. This includes developing and engaging youth in their care plans, ensuring safety and wellbeing, participating in team meetings, providing transition services to youth to promote self-sufficiency and living skills, skills assessment, assisting with youth with accessing education and workforce readiness/support, providing group activities designed to promote independent living skill development, life skills education/coaching, and collaborating with community partners and colleagues to help support the URM program and goals.
Minimum Qualifications
This position a bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, counseling, human development, education, human services, child development and family science, human resource management (human service track), nursing, or criminal justice plus two years of professional work experience as a social worker, child protective services worker, or professional case manager. A master's degree in one of the areas above may substitute for one year of the work experience requirement.If no qualified applicants are found, we will consider filling this position as an underfill as a URM Foster Care Case Manager II (Human Services IV) with the same educational requirements as above and one year of professional case management experience. If no qualified applications are found, we will further consider filling this position as a URM Foster Care Case Manager II (Human Services IV) with the same educational requirements. As a member of the URM team, your position will include a combination of client/community engagement work along with documentation and referral duties. Regular activities and travel will be in the Fargo area along with periodic travel to the main office in Hillsboro. Some nontraditional work hours are anticipated. Completion of home visits is required. As this position may require transportation of clients, a valid driver's license and adequate vehicle insurance is required. The successful applicant must pass a standard background, motor vehicle, and criminal record check.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with professional case management experience such as independent living, foster care case management, child welfare, etc. This position will require the ability to be a self-starter and problem solver. A successful candidate will also need to be highly organized, be able to move quickly from one task to another, and be able to communicate effectively with diverse populations. The ability to speak Spanish and/or other languages is a plus. An eye for detail will be key along with the ability to manage your time and prioritizes effectively, and pride yourself on excellent communication skills, empathy, and being a team player.
