The North Dakota Retirement and Investment Office (RIO) is a global institutional investor with investment portfolios of more than $21 billion. We are inviting applications for an enthusiastic and skilled Accounting Intern for our Fiscal Services division. This internship offers a unique opportunity to engage in essential financial operations, including accounting, auditing, and business processes, supporting the investment and administration of significant client funds and comprehensive retirement programs.Join us at RIO and contribute to the financial security and success of North Dakota's citizens, educators, and public employees through this enriching and rewarding internship opportunity.Schedule: This internship will be up to 15-20 hours per week during our business hours of Monday-Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Flexibility is offered to accommodate classes and student schedules. Additional hours may be offered based on student availability. The duration of this internship is estimated to be through May but may be extended through August with an increase of hours over the summer but will be determined based on factors such as the student's availability and the needs of the division. Salary: 18.00/hr Location: The position is based onsite at our office location in Bismarck, ND.Summary of Key Duties:The Accounting Intern will gain experience in the following areas:Pension plan salary reporting and compliance.Review and calculate required contributions from employers/members.Assess accuracy of data.Audit existing reports and identify errors or areas for improvement.Exposure to accounting in an institutional investment environment.To be considered for this position, you must be:Currently enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college, university, or vocational-technical program within the United States.In pursuit of a bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, finance, mathematics, data science, or a related field, at sophomore level or above.Minimum overall GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.Working in an internship that aligns with the student's academic major or career goals. Preferred Qualifications:Extensive experience with Microsoft Excel, Word, and OutlookStrong verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detail to evaluate data for accuracy and errors.High level of organizational skills to track multiple outstanding issues and provide follow-up in a timely manner.Working with Team ND and RIO:More than 7,500 talented, hard-working people across sixty-three state agencies have come together as Team North Dakota.
