Vocational Rehabilitation - Dickinson, ND - Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist The Vocational Rehabilitation section is looking for a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist. When joining our team, we will provide you with hands on training for the role of a Vocational Rehabilitation Specialist focusing on vision rehabilitation. We will provide you with all of the tools and resources available to gain success in your role.As a Vision Rehabilitation Specialist, you will provide vision rehabilitation services to individuals who are 55 or older in their home or community in the areas of technology, communication skills, daily living skills, pre-cane travel skills, and social/emotional adjustment to vision loss. You will also collaborate and consult with vocational rehabilitation counselors to provide services to clients with visual impairments who want to maintain their independence and employment. You will conduct presentations to educate organizations, businesses, and the community about available services through Vocational Rehabilitation.To succeed in this position, you should be highly organized, able to manage your time and priorities effectively and have demonstrated ability to communicate with all types of people. You will be comfortable working with clients in their homes (may have steps, pets, and/or smoke) as well as conducting presentations to organizations, businesses, and the community. Approximately 60% of the time consists of daytime travel within western North Dakota with some overnight travel required. You must be willing and able to travel in addition to collaborating with team members in the office. This position is to assist the child welfare staff in the day-to-day administrative tasks and transportation needs of clients. The duties include compiling medical and educational records of the clients, assist on foster care cases in completing necessary paperwork and applications packets, assist with tribal enrollment, verification and active efforts to support reunification. The position will involve ongoing parent and relative searches including reaching out to relatives and fictive kin to support ongoing connections and potential placements for children under the custody of the zone. With the support of an interdisciplinary team, you will provide outreach services and engagement opportunities, promote wellness and community involvement, and increase natural supports for service users. Peer Support Specialists will also assist with crisis response. Peer Support Services are community-based. Work will be done primarily in the individual's home and community. To thrive in this position , you should have at least one year of personal recovery, have a strong desire to assist others achieve personal recovery, be knowledgeable about resources offered in your community, and prefer working with clients in their home and natural environments. To be considered for the Peer Support Specialist position, you are required to have the following: Self-identify as an individual who has personal lived experience and is willing to publicly identify as an individual in recovery from a mental health disorder, brain injury, substance use disorder, or combination. At least eighteen years of age Have a high school diploma or general equivalency. Must be able to demonstrate the ability to read and write at a level proficient enough for training, documentation, and the type of work peer support will require; and This position also requires: Valid driver's license or ability to travel to meet clients at their location. Ability to successfully complete a defensive driving course within 6 months of hire. Successful completion of a division-approved Peer Support Training Program within 3 months of hire.
