Career Description




This position is to assist the child welfare staff in the day-to-day administrative tasks and transportation needs of clients. The duties include compiling medical and educational records of the clients, assist on foster care cases in completing necessary paperwork and applications packets, assist with tribal enrollment, verification and active efforts to support reunification. The position will involve ongoing parent and relative searches including reaching out to relatives and fictive kin to support ongoing connections and potential placements for children under the custody of the zone. The job will also entail connecting clients to supportive services in our and surrounding communities which will assist in providing stability, growth and overall client wellbeing. Transportation of clients will be provided as needed. The ability to interact with clients, build report and engage with other professionals is vital. This position will also be vital in maintaining our records documentation systems.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent or a combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. Valid Drivers License. Demonstrated experience in office support, customer service or additional related education as dictated by the hiring agency.

Identification of suitable clouds; clear communication with aircraft via two-way radio; operation of Windows, Mac, and Linux/Unix-based software; pilot briefings; meteorological record keeping; direction and supervision of intern meteorologists; supervision of chemical inventory; and assisting with radar calibrations and maintenance. Other duties include monitoring local weather conditions, interaction with National Weather Service personnel and the public, and data entry. Work begins in early August, 2024, and continues as weather dictates, 24-hours a day, seven days a week, through an agreed-upon conclusion in August, 2024.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor of Arts or Science in Meteorology, Atmospheric Science or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with radar operation and short-term forecasting of deep convection; recent experience in operational convective cloud seeding.

The ideal applicant would have knowledge of the principles and practices of structure inspection, non-destructive testing techniques, basic structural engineering principles, knowledge of various site-specific characteristics and their potential effects on structural condition (e.g., temperature, weather conditions, scour, etc.); safety practices, OSHA regulations; directing, organizing, and coordinating with district and railroad staff; complex inspection procedures; adapting inspection methods and techniques to meet various site-specific circumstances; and operating a variety of inspection tools, equipment, and vehicles. The applicant must be able to work in a team environment. The applicant must encompass effective collaboration, adaptability, conflict resolution, accountability, respect, and both leadership and followership abilities. Effective written and verbal communication skills are also required in communicating technical information and inspection plans with inspectors and Department staff, developing technical reports and recommendations. This position further requires skill in the use of standard office software applications (i.e., word, excel, etc.), and the ability to learn and use bridge inspection software and photo editing software.Expectations include traveling for a minimum of 8 months annually, from April 1st to November 30th, with overnight stays (approximately 20% of the time) across North Dakota. The remainder of the year will be spent in the office or performing ancillary inspections (High Mast Lighting, Overhead Sign Structures).This position will assist the senior bridge inspector in the following duties:Structural Inspection:Perform routine field inspection, NSTM inspection, and/or special inspection of existing, recently constructed, and damaged state-owned bridges and other related structures.
